It is a grand house.  Built circa 1892 by Doctor Rabasté in the style of a Malouinière which are known to have been built in the late 17th or early 18th centuries.

The definition of Adventure – An unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity.  Daring and exciting activity calling for enterprise and enthusiasm.

Our house has a name – L’Essaim.   The term essaim refers to a colony of honey bees that have left the hive with the queen bee to seek out a new hive and a new life.

  1. Chris Everdell says:

Did you choose then name of the house or was it already named?

    • allan rienstra says:

Chris – That was the first question that came to my mind too.

      • More on that later, but it is the name that came with the house. Most homes and farms are named in this area – road signs will point to “named properties” before they actually identify the name of the road.

        Only in France.
